I was so embarrassed about how thin my hair was becoming. Every time I brushed, loads of hair ended up coming out with it. It’s such an emotional subject and difficult to cope with. I wanted to know why I was losing my hair—and how to get it back! So I went back to school to study scalp issues and hair loss at The International Association of Trichology. And the UK's Institute of Trichologists.
Now, I’m a board-certified Trichologist, IAT, IoT, a specialist in the field, and I’ve been personally able to use what I learned, and my hair is healthy and full again. I am so excited to be able to share my knowledge with you.

With over 30 years in the beauty business, it was only natural for me to open my atelier, Penny James Salon Trichology Center, in 2013, where I have merged beauty and science.
I became a trichologist due to my hair loss and know how hair loss affects so many men and women of all ages. My passion drives me to help people whose spirits have been broken due to hair loss, ensuring all my clients feel good about themselves. Even if it means their hair might not grow back naturally, I will find a solution to their problem. It's my promise to all my clients.
It is beneficial that I have an extensive background in all aspects of hair styling, and I'm an expert with hair. This puts me in a unique position to be the only trichologist and hairstylist with a private business in New York City. In addition, I'm the editor's "go-to" person for all trichology questions.
